 - OCTOBER 2017

The Tony Kirby Memorial ride is meeting at Emmaville on 21/10. Below are a few words from Steve.

We’ll congregate at Emmaville’s Club Hotel;  http://clubhotelemmaville.com/index.html  Saturday night to commemorate TK’s contribution to our adventure riding lifestyle. We have a block booking at the Club Hotel for those wishing to stay there.

Please go online and make your own arrangements, making sure you mention you are a TK Ride participant. About 3-4 weeks prior, the pub will take a booking from anyone, so make your plans early if wishing to stay at the pub. Camping is also available nearby for those that prefer to do it that way.

I'll be there on Friday night and there’ll be an ‘unorganised’ day ride(s) out of Emmaville on Saturday for those who also arrive in time. Getting to Emmaville and return is up to the individual. My ride plan is to head for the DSMRA AGM at Murrayville the previous weekend, then I'll have 4-5 days to get to Emmaville from there, followed by 4 or so days to get home again, Coomaish SE NSW, which will be about 2 weeks on the road for me. If someone wants to join me for all or part you're welcome.

Cheers Steve

There’s a few of us leaving on Friday from Dalby heading down that way if anyone is keen to tag on.

DALBY MOTO HAS KTM1090R AND KTM1290R Demos available for test rides. I may have been heard to say in the past that there wouldn’t a big a difference in the power between the 1190 and the 1290, well it appears I’m wrong, the 1190 has heaps of power and you don’t really need any more, but yes the 1290 has even more. If you love your 1190, don’t ride a 1290.

The KTM 1090R is proving a popular bike with the $19,950 plus on road costs price tag.

Dalby Moto has done the full Monty set up now on both the 1090 and 1290 R‘s and they are both proving to be worthwhile weapons of fun.

\We just received our first basic model CRF1000 Africa Twin, this is the one with no ABS or traction control, I think these bikes offer great value with the price tag of $15,440 on road with six months single seat Rego. We have set up a few Africa Twins now and there are no complaints.

Dalby Moto has a new Yamaha XT 1200 Ténéré available in the flat metallic grey which we are selling for $17,670 plus on road costs. Total on road costs with six months Qld single seat registration would be $730.

KTM700, we have our own KTM 700 on display at Dalby Moto and available for test rides if anyone is keen to either have a look, or see if building a bike like this better suits their adventure riding needs.

Dalby Moto also has two KTM690’s available with Safari tanks fitted with price tag starting from $6690 ride away. This particular bike rides and feels like new and is great buying for a adventure riding starter bike.

TENERE TRAGICS  is on next year leaving from Hervey Bay to Dubbo from 4/3/18 to 9/3/18. Contact Clubby on 0419494488 or google Tenere Tragics.

New Format

What's new!!! .....

  1. 8 Day rally which means that riders only need to take a week of work.
  2. It's cheaper $980 for 8 days of awesome tracks with new challenges
  3. 330 km fuel range required
  4. Camping is optional
  5. Iphones and android phones can be used to navigate course no need to buy GPS.
  6. Riders who come alone can elect to join a group with riders who have the same ability
  7. 3 "Black" sections that are completely optional but if a rider completes them and finishes the rally within 8 days they will receive a special edition APC rally "expert" cap which will be hard earned.

What stays the same .....

  1. Rally course is a 3800 km loop with start/finish points near Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne Dubbo & Goondiwindi.
  2. There are easy cut outs on a well-planned track that is very accurate. Less skilled riders can have a lot of fun they just to need to use the track notes to navigate around the harder sections.
  3. Riders are safer because we don't have regroups each night, There is less dust and less congestion at fuel stops and no long queues for toilets or food. We don't put numbers on your bikes because that often leads to racing.

The first Sunday of each month a one day ride will start at the Story Bridge hotel. Riders just show up between 6 am and 7 am and we will load GPS units and then run a corner man system for those without GPS units. The cost is only $50 and riders just pay on the day. What I am trying to do is just give guys a good solid days riding on different courses each time we go out. The courses will suit all levels of riders . As with all my rides I will be up the back because that is where people need the most help. We are starting on June 5th and we hope to create an atmosphere that all riders feel relaxed and just enjoy the endless track. We will have no regroups and the key for many is the convenience of having not to organise any one else they just show up and will meet riders who are the same pace. There will be no regroups and you will simply sign a list when you reach the end which would be a petrol station on the outskirts of town . This means that you dont have to wait around you can just go home and wash your bike. For those who live out of Brisbane they might consider bringing the family to Brisbane for the weekend and they do family stuff Saturday and riding Sunday.

Just text John Hudson M 0414457455 if you plan on coming. Put you name and bike type in the text please with your email address.

Canada detailed Itinerary CLICK HERE

We have 14 spots available for riders and 6 for partners. This ride will change your outlook on life, in my opinion, it's the pinnacle of our sport. The freight cost is considerable and cost the same if we take 14 bikes or 3 so you will own a space. If you have to pull out and we can replace you with another rider we can do a refund if we can't you will own a spot on the container.  Partners will be required to drive the hire cars that shadow the ride.  The partners will have to pay $500 each for hire car cost and $200 for fuel. Partners are required to pay $700 deposit as well. They are in a hire car for 14 days which is fully insured and it includes fuel at $50 per day

Bike Loading: 17th APRIL  2-00 pm 50 Michael Street. Bulimba

GPS units are to be posted to APC RALLY P.O Box 785 Bulimba QLD 4171 in June. A Canadian map set will be loaded on your GPS for you as well as the track. Those who have spare GPS units should send them as well. When your GPS or bike stops working and you are pulled up under a tree I swear you nearly always hear bears.

Freight Information. Notes: no fuel in tanks, battery not attached, extremely clean, under bash plates inside guards everywhere. Bikes should be packed with gear on them and ready to go. Riding gear in bags also needs to be very clean. Helmets and spare clothes can go in the container. Include two tie downs and wheel chock or spring to hold the front wheel up. Bikes can be stored at 50 Michael Street one week before departure.
Telstra have a roaming deal for data and it’s important to get it so the group trackers show up on your phone also handy for other stuff. We have phone service for approx 40% of riding time.

Rally team are flying with Air Canada getting flight ac 036   July 21st Direct from Bris to Vancouver 14 hours We arrive in Canada on the 21st because of the time difference. Hire cars will be picked up that afternoon.
Your “go to Hospital “drybag should include a set of clothes , thongs , phone charger, cigarette lighter, next of kin contact details, a copy of medical insurance, a copy of passport, copy of credit cards, hat, sunglasses and $300 Canadian dollars. Every rider needs to have this on their bike at all times.
No camping gear is required and a bag will be carried in the truck for you but you should always carry some cloths and shoes in case the support truck does not show. I would also recommend carrying plenty of spare and tools. There are less bike shops then in Australia and very little capacity to get things fixed. For example, if you own a KTM 690 bring a fuel filter, fuel pump and injector.
Fuel range required is 430 km.

The New Definition Of Adventure Is Coming Soon

Like a faintly-visible dust cloud on the horizon, accompanied by a rising exhaust note that beckons you as a call of the wild, the world's most impressive Adventure Range is coming fast, and soon to arrive at a dealership near you.

KTM has devoted itself so completely to understanding what it takes for adventure bikes to not just exist, but work in the wild, that it's spawned 16 Dakar victories in a row, at the hands of seven different riders.

What we've learned in Rally competition around the world has been paired with suspension DNA derived straight from our World Championship-winning enduro range, for the finest in off-road suspension technology, then refined and reflected in KTM's toughest, smartest, and most thrilling Adventure range yet.

The KTM 1090 Adventure R stares down anything in its path. Bespoke WP suspension, offroad wheels and a tough yet fuel-efficient engine are ready to rumble. Decades of rally raid victories roar within. As shrewd as it is chiseled, this bike uses the same state-of-the-art technology as the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and even though its engine capacity is smaller, it’s still big on power: 125 HP. That’s 23 more than Fabrizio Meoni's Dakar winning 950. The 1090 Adventure R is the new Class Leader.READ MORE »
1290 Super Adventure S

Even when you're bending the laws of physics, KTM's combination of 160 HP, 140 NM of torque and a mere 238 kg is kept in check by the most advanced electronics in the world of motorcycling. All you have to do is focus on the road ahead - and hold on tight. But the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S offers buttery smooth cruising as well, if that's what you really want.READ MORE »
